Radio Silence

Far from a rest, my silence has taken on quite a spell. Almost three years before picking up my glosa notebook and starting a new poem and almost four from my last entry here. It was February 2021 when I finally gave into one of the two songs haunting me. I think I finished maybe two plus stanzas before I paused to take advantage of April’s PAD (poem-a-day) Challenge. And of course, I did not return to the glosa for quite some time when a new form of inspiration hit. So, in early November, I put the final touches on “With You”, a glosa inspired by a cabeza which came from “One Man Band” by Old Dominion.

Admittedly, I did not journal my progress on this as I went through this write. I think part of me wanted to simply reconnect with the form, and poetry in general. Maybe had I journaled by process I would not have lingered so long on completing it. But it definitely felt good to finish it and too start another slightly less daunting project.

After a bit of back and forth with myself, I settled on “producing” five glosas in the form of videos. I probably would have done so sooner, if not for my reticence to be captured on video. Luckily, my dislike of my own voice in a recording did not hinder moving forward with this project, once I figured a way to create something visually that I could set my voice to.

So, while I’m not 100% happy with it – but let’s be honestly, I doubt I’d every be 100% happy – I have finished the first episode.  Here's hoping I can managed to finish this project...considering how poorly I did on the one that got this all started.
